Old Lab Designs, headed by Janna Watson, has brought Laurie Green Bakke, Christine Ferrier Filka, and Ansley Leitner together. In a mercantile shop at 629 Fifth Avenue in Hendersonville, NC!
We have been working hard buying, rearranging, and more rearranging to prepare for the Grand Re-Opening Event. It will be on September 1st from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. We can’t wait to see you!

The Mercantile at Old Lab Designs began as a small vintage shop located at 629 5th Avenue West in the former Jax Pax, an old-fashioned country store committed to serving its community. Inspired by its history, owner Janna Watson envisioned an evolution to a likewise community-inspired shop, and The Mercantile at Old Lab Designs was formed.
What better way to form a modern-day, community-based shop than to collaborate with local experts? Customers can expect quirky vintage items and contemporary women’s fashion to continue, with the addition of gourmet kitchen items and gifts hand-picked by Culinary Creative Laurie Bakke and Retail Maven Chrissy Filka and an eclectic mix of home furnishings and decor curated by Design Guru Ansley Leitner.
To celebrate, a Sip & Shop event is taking place on Wednesday, September 1st, from 5-7 PM at Old Lab Mercantile with wine tastings by Wine Sage & Gourmet. A portion of the proceeds from all sales that evening will benefit Blue Ridge Humane Society.
