I had a great day at The Tree and Vine http://www.thetreeandvine.com in Knoxville, TN on Saturday, the 20th of July. Terry Karlsson and I set the date back in May. I was excited to make a road trip for a signing! I had the pleasure to work with Paul Karlsson and their incredible staff on a sunny Saturday, as they educated their eager customers on the flavors of the specialty olive oils, vinegars and gourmet foods that is offered. They also carry cookware and gadgets that is must in every gourmet kitchen.
I was there with my husband, Paul, for a book-signing for Laurie Bakke’s Cookbook. We arrived around 10:00 and the store was full of people. We quickly set up the Lavender Shortbread Cookies, the Smoked Trout Dip on Roots & Branches Artisan Crackers Olive Oil 7 oz (sold at the store) and the cookbooks. Both of the recipes are from the cookbook. The loved the samples and started purchasing the cookbook. I was busy signing and the day was off to a great start.
It was so interesting to hear Paul and his staff explain the complexities of all these different oils and vinegars and how to use them in everyday cooking. By the end of the day, I had narrowed down what I was going to purchase to bring home for my kitchen. It was a tough decision, but here is what I bought:
- Greek Herb Olive Oil – new!
- Laconiko Basil Olive Oil
- Theros Olive Oil
- Traditional Balsamic Vinegar
- Lemon Infused White Balsamic Vinegar
- Honey Ginger Infused White Balsamic Vinegar
I am having fun experimenting with these delightful products. On this site, you will find Black Pepper Steaks with Red-Wine Vinegar, Lemon and Feta Vinaigrette, which uses many of these tasty products. I highly recommend a trip to The Tree and Vine in Asheville, NC or Knoxville, TN. Terri and Paul Karlsson are wonderful proprietors and delightful to work with.
